John Mitchell John Mitchell received his B.A. from Williams College and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. He joined U.S. Bancorp in 1983. John was Chief Economist of U.S. Bancorp until 1998, and served as Western Region Economist for U.S. Bank until July of 2007. His regional publications include: The Economic Update, the Business Barometer, U.S. Territory, and Oregon Tidbits. He currently writes a column for Oregon Business Magazine. John has served as a business analyst for KPTV in Portland. He has been making presentations on national and regional economic topics for more than 35 years.
