Take your membership to the next level: Get involved in HBA activities!
Wondering how to get involved at the HBA and make connections with people who can help your business thrive? Here is a list of activities your association does. The staff works tirelessly and depends on help from members to build an environment of reciprocity. Consider joining a committee or council, or sponsor a fun event!
Street of Dreams Block Party
The HBA Block Party is the kick-off to the annual NW Natural Street of Dreams. Your help is needed to organize and coordinate the premier party attended by 1,000 guests each year. Contact Jennifer Tucker and start planning the party.
Annual Golf Tournament
Do you enjoy feeling sunshine on your face while standing on the green? Come assist in the planning, help obtain sponsorships, and assist the day of the tournament at the end of June. Contact Jessica Metteer to get involved.
Communications
We communicate with our membership, the public, and the local media. Come provide guidance on the HBA Website, specialty publications like the Street of Dreams magazine and Remodel Portland magazine, the Home Building News, as well as public relations and advertising efforts to promote the association. Contact Lola Rain to get involved.
Education
The HBA provides educational opportunities for its membership and the greater home building community. Help plan seminars, workshops, meetings, as well as CPR/First Aid classes and building code update classes. Contact Shaina Sullivan to join the effort.
Foundation Benefit Dinner & Auction
The April Benefit Dinner & Auction depends on members to coordinate the event, solicit auction items, and sell tickets. This Benefit Dinner & Auction raises more than $75,000 for the Home Builders Foundation. Contact Mel Duncan to learn how you can help.
Government Relations & Political Action
Government Affairs & Political Action is a specialty of the HBA. We protect your right to build. You too can step up and impact your industry by receiving special briefs on key governmental issues facing the housing industry today and those likely to affect it in the future. Be part of the discussion on HBA involvement on legal issues of regional or statewide significance. Provide input and direction to HBA’s government affairs staff. Make policy recommendations to the HBA Board of Directors. Roll up yourself, contact Justin Wood, and get down to work. Your voice will be heard.
Membership Council
The Membership Council focuses on membership development through recruitment and retention, rewarding recruiters, improving benefits, and providing networking opportunities through dinner and lunch meetings, evening networking, and special events. Joining this council will give you the opportunity to make new contacts and build business relationships. Contact Nancy Haskin.
PRO Bowl and Texas Hold’em
What better way to spend a Sunday in October than bowling and playing cards with 75-80 of your friends? Your help is needed to assist in the planning and coordination of the PRO bowling and poker tournaments. Help attract sponsors and team registrations. You can even assist on the day of the tournament. Contact Jessica Metteer to get signed up today.
Spring and Fall Home and Garden Shows
The Home and Garden Shows attract homeowners looking for ideas to remodel and the professionals they can trust. Your help is needed to plan and execute these shows which offer quality education and entertainment to the general public. To get involved contact Hallie Gentry.
