A member resource for building science + Better Building Practices
The Building Science Program is a technical resource for better building practices offered free to HBA members through the Home Performance Council, in partnership with the Energy Trust of Oregon (ETO), Home Certified, OrePAC, Portland General Electric and NW Natural.
Through active, hands-on engagement with builders in the Portland-metro market, the Building Science Program offers members access to fuel-neutral opportunities and better building practices resources, helping builders to balance the cost-effective energy savings objectives of all stakeholders while also promoting the principles of choice, quality and value.
HBA's Building Science Consultant is the resident Building Science expert on HBA's team, helping identify opportunities for training and communications with builders in the market and keeping builders and verifier trades up-to-date on innovation for better building practices. The Building Science Consultant also serves as the primary liaison between the Portland-area home building industry and ETO regarding the ETO New Homes Program, communicating residential new construction energy saving measures and offering program feedback.
Carol Eisenlohr, Building Towards Better LLC + Carol Eisenlohr serves as HBA's Building Science Consultant. She brings decades in the industry as a builder, construction/project manager, quality assurance manager, and best practices task force leader. Carol's technical expertise and hands-on field knowledge along with local industry connections help bridge communications and develop educational opportunities for members.
