More than a home, the HBA Home represents what can happen when members across the residential construction industry come together around a common goal.

Building More Than a Home

The HBA Home was created to support HBA Greater Portland’s ongoing work in housing and workforce development, providing a real-world example of the many careers, skills and partnerships that make homebuilding possible.

Throughout the project, HBA members contributed their time, expertise, products and services to help bring the home to life. The result is a showcase of the residential construction industry in action—and a tangible demonstration of the incredible talent within the HBA membership.

The completed home also provides an opportunity to introduce students and emerging professionals to the construction industry in a meaningful way. By showcasing the building process in a real-world setting, the HBA Home can help high school students and pre-apprenticeship construction trainees better understand the careers and opportunities available within residential construction.

Demonstrating What's Possible

The HBA Home also demonstrates how current building codes and energy-efficiency measures can be thoughtfully incorporated into a well-designed, comfortable home.

Rather than viewing code requirements and energy efficiency as separate considerations, the project highlights how they can work together with thoughtful design and quality construction. It offers an opportunity for industry professionals, future workers and the public to see these principles in practice.

And, as part of the 50th Anniversary of the NW Natural Street of Dreams, the HBA Home helped shine a spotlight on the people and companies behind the region’s residential construction industry.
