Our history
Established in 1941, the Home Building Association of Greater Portland is a trade association representing housing and the residential construction industry. The Home Building Association is the leading voice for the residential building industry, representing more than 1,400 builders, remodelers and industry professionals. The Home Building Association is the most nationally awarded home builders association in the country, the fastest growing and the fifth largest overall. Since 1942, the Home Building Association has worked on behalf of the industry to promote diverse, affordable housing options to area residents. The Home Building Association produces and manages many outstanding programs and tours in the Portland area, including: the NW Natural Street of Dreams, the Portland Spring Home & Garden Show, the Homes of Tomorrow Today Tour, and the BuildRight Home Performance Conference.
The Home Building Association’s territory covers Washington, Multnomah, Clackamas, Yamhill, Columbia and Hood River Counties. This includes all cities, counties, and special districts within these areas. The range of housing provided by our members includes everything from low income to luxury, from suburban communities to infill development, from single-family to condos and apartments.
